Shoulder taping with Zoe Russell
Use your assessment findings to select and apply shoulder taping for pain relief and support, including cervical radiculopathy symptoms, ACJ injuries and shoulder instability.

How can you tape the shoulder or acromioclavicular joint (ACJ) after an injury or dislocation? What taping helps relieve neck and arm pain from cervical radiculopathy?
In this practical presentation, Zoe Russell (Specialist Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist, Olympic and Commonwealth Games Physio and Clinical Edge educator) demonstrates taping techniques for the shoulder region, including glenohumeral joint (GHJ) dislocations, ACJ injuries and cervical radiculopathy symptoms.
You’ll discover:
- How to apply shoulder stability taping to limit abduction and external rotation following anterior dislocation, and check that it creates the intended support.
- Different ACJ taping techniques for acute injuries requiring support in a sling, and for when your patient is returning to activity and sport.
- How to vary your taping depending on the degree of ACJ instability.
- How to cut and fit protective foam padding around the ACJ, and reusable thermoplastic options.
- How to tailor your taping techniques to cervical radiculopathy presentations and easing positions.
- How to make your taping comfortable, minimise skin irritation and stay in place during contact or vigorous sports.
Zoe shows you the practical handling, positioning and reassessment to use with each shoulder taping technique, so you can provide effective, comfortable taping, tailored to your patient’s symptoms, that gives the support they need.
